Whistler
The Hahn Family Townhouse is conveniently located across the street from Marketplace Shopping Center, which also serves as the entrance to the Olympic Plaza and Whistler Walk. Simply park your car in the underground garage and walk to nearly all of Whistler’s activities and award winning restaurants.
When you go to Whistler, take your taste buds. There are many world class restaurants and some just good food places. Wherever you go, you will have a wonderful time and meet people from all over the world. Chances are your wait staff will not be from Canada. Many come from the US to ski and wrk just enough to fund their skiing/snowboarding addiction. But many of the people you will meet are not from North America. As you sit and dine, listen to the many languages being spoken by the patrons around you. It is truly an international experience. There are many things to do in Whistler besides skiing. Downhill mountain biking has also started to gain steam in recent years as a great way to get your heart pounding. Whistler Blackcomb operates several lifts in the summer months with tracks ranging from easy, medium to expert levels. A slew of cross country bike trails extends out of the Village core and a paved bike path called the Valley Trail weaves through most of the resort’s neighborhoods. This trail goes past the five alpine lakes as well; Alpha, Nita, Alta, Lost and Green.
If the trails and lifts are too civilized for you, then try the back country. Back country is wilderness that surrounds Whistler Blackcomb and is enjoyed in many ways; the two big categories are motorized and non-motorized.
- Motorized includes snowmobiling, heli-skiing and snowcats. Several outfitters in Whistler area operate day tours for all ability levels, ranging from family-friendly trail riding to challenging alpine powder terrain.
- Non-motorized is for nature lovers who have time and patience to travel on foot with the added benefit that more terrain is available. In an effort to preserve the natural beauty for future generations, BC Parks does not allow motorized recreation in most parkland. Cross country skiing, snow-shoeing and dog sledding are some popular options that range from day trips to longer supported treks. There are a dozen alpine huts that offer shelter for an overnight adventure.

Activities for Teenagers
“Ski vacations with teenagers can be tricky business. You want to cherish the remaining years of holidays with family, yet you want to accommodate your teen’s desire for more independence. The 13 to 18 years old age group is often overlooked in resort communities – too young enjoy the nightlife, yet too old to be spending every hour of vacation with parents and siblings.
But there is a place in Whistler where the teens can take sanctuary. A place to meet with others their own age, to progress their skiing and riding skills and explore the vast terrain of Whistler Blackcomb, all whilst making friends from around the world. Welcome to Ride Tribe – Whistler’s snow culture for teens.
As part of Whistler Blackcomb Snow School, Ride Tribe’s focus is skier and rider improvement. With a maximum of six students per class, students get the individual attention that guests expect while still keeping the class dynamic and fun. But if you think that is just another rendition of ski school, think again.”
